Wearable Jewel Paper Crown Paper Squishy

Assembly overview

1. Print and prepare. Print both template pages at 100% / Actual Size. Check the 50 mm ruler. Use 160-180 gsm card, scissors, ruler and paper glue. Colour the white version first. This crown is a wearable paper craft, not a stuffed squishy.
2. Cut four parts. Cut F, L, R and the separate red net G below F. The diamond marked G on F is a mounting position: DO NOT cut a hole there. On the red net, remove the notch X all the way to point P. Keep J and tabs 1-4. Never cut the dashed lines.
3. Fold the bottom hems. Fold the bottom 8 mm of F, L and R backwards along the dashed line, onto the blank back. Glue flat. These hems reinforce the edge; the visible bands are 36 mm tall. Do not crease the large front face.
4. Join L behind F. L and R mean left and right when looking at the PRINTED FRONT. Turn F face down: L now goes on the RIGHT of this back view. Glue L's printed 15 mm JOIN face to F's blank back. Align the bottom edges; the long band extends right in this view.
5. Join R behind F. In this same BACK view, attach R on the LEFT. Glue its printed 15 mm JOIN face to F's blank back and align the bottom edges. Turn the strip over: L is now on the left and R on the right. The joined length is 620 mm.
6. Curve and mark the fit. Curve the strip around the head, decoration out. Let the rear ends overlap. Mark a comfortable fit with a pencil on the INSIDE; then remove the crown before applying glue. There are no printed scales on the outside.
7. Close the back ring. Off the head, measure the overlap with a ruler: keep it between 20 and 140 mm. Circumference equals 620 mm minus overlap, giving 600-480 mm. Glue the rear ends at the inside mark, align the bottom edges and let dry. Fit by measurement, not age.
8. Pre-fold the jewel G. Check the notch first: cut along BOTH solid edges to P and remove X. Stop at P; keep all four red faces connected along the dashed rays. With colour outside, mountain-fold the three interior rays gently. Keep tabs 1-4 open for now.
9. Close the jewel seam. Close the gap where X was removed. Fold J inward; put glue on its printed face. Bring the free edge of the face beside tab 4 onto J's fold line. J goes UNDER that red face. Match both ends of the seam and press from the open underside.
10. Prepare the four glue feet. Viewed from underneath, tabs 1-4 fold inward into the base plane. Their printed faces face down towards F: dot these faces with glue. The footprint is 32 x 40 mm. Keep the centre hollow; no backing piece or filling is needed.
11. Mount the raised jewel. Align G over the central diamond on F, long axis vertical. Gently flatten just that small area of F. Press all four glued feet against the printed front; support F from behind. Keep the apex raised 8 mm. Allow to dry before wearing.
12. Ready to wear. Check the fit without pulling the ring. Front width 180 mm, visible peak height 100 mm; back bands 36 mm high. Only the centre ruby is folded in 3D; the side gems and gold carving are printed. Do not squeeze or stretch the crown.
