Care guide

How to Clean Squishies

Most squishies need gentle surface cleaning, not soaking. This guide keeps the advice practical across foam, gel, mochi, and paper squishies.

Clean Gently, Then Inspect Again

Cleaning is also a safety check. If a squishy is torn, leaking, sticky in a way that does not wipe off, or shedding pieces, replacing it is usually better than trying to rescue it.

Basic Cleaning Steps

Inspect first

Check for tears, leaks, flaking paint, sticky residue, or loose parts before cleaning.

Use a damp cloth

Wipe gently with cool water and a tiny amount of mild soap if the material allows it.

Avoid soaking

Do not submerge foam, paper, or filled squishies unless the product label says it is washable.

Air dry fully

Let the toy dry completely before storing it in a bag or bin.

Retire damaged toys

If a toy leaks, smells unusual, or keeps shedding, stop using it.

Material Notes

Paper squishies

Wipe only the taped surface. Water can still enter seams or soften paper edges.

Foam squishies

Surface clean gently. Too much water can damage texture and paint.

Gel squishies

Do not squeeze hard while cleaning. Inspect seams after wiping.

Mochi squishies

Use light wiping and avoid sticky storage bags that can pull at the surface.

Do Not Use Harsh Cleaners

Bleach, strong solvents, hot water, and aggressive scrubbing can damage coatings, seams, or stuffing. If the product has a care label, follow that first.
