What you'll need

  • Paper 100–140 gsm, scissors, glue, clear tape, soft tissue. Adult help with cutting. Lightly fill; press gently.

Assembly overview

  1. Six pieces, one cake. Choose color OR coloring, in A4 OR Letter. Print pages 1 and 2 once. You need T, B, W1, W2, S1 and S2. Color before cutting. T and B each have sides a = 100 mm, b = 80 mm and c = 100 mm.
  2. Cut and pre-fold. Cut the solid outside outlines. Do not cut dashed lines. Fold the wall corners, J1/J2 and all 7 mm tabs inward, toward the white side. Ta/Tb/Tc support the top; Ba/Bb/Bc hold the base. Leave the strawberry feet flat for now.
  3. Join the two walls. Lay W1 and W2 printed side up, red glaze at the same top edge. Spread glue on the printed face of J1. Place the white back of W2's plain starting edge over all 8 mm of J1, exactly to its dashed root. Press flat. The net wall length is 280 mm; J2 remains free.
  4. Close the triangular ring. Bend at the 100 mm corner and J1 root to make a triangular ring, open above and below. Spread glue on the printed face of J2 and tuck it inside W1's plain starting edge to its root. Press from both sides. Match a, b and c; do not flatten the sharp tip. Insets enlarge the joins.
  5. Attach the base B. Turn the ring upside down. Fold Ba/Bb/Bc inward 90°. Apply glue to their exposed printed faces. Lower B onto them, white side touching glue and printed side facing out. Match B's a/b/c edges to the walls. Press through the open top against each joint; let the glue set.
  6. Turn upright and fill lightly. B is now underneath. Add small loose pieces of soft tissue through the open top, about half full. Keep the rim and Ta/Tb/Tc clear. Do not pack hard or use wet filling. The top is still open; T is not attached yet.
  7. Rest T on its supports. Fold Ta/Tb/Tc inward 90° without glue. Lower T with its white side down onto the tabs. Match the pointed end and a/b/c edges. The tabs support T from inside. Hold the lid flush; do not force it down into the filling.
  8. Tape all three top edges. Use short clear-tape strips across each outside edge, half on T and half on the wall. Seal a, b and c, including the rear edge shown in the plan view. Smooth each strip and the pointed corner gently. The lid is now sealed, not removable.
  9. Add two paper strawberries. Fold each S1/S2 foot 90° backward, away from the printed berry. Glue the underside of each 14 × 7 mm foot onto T, away from the edges. Press the feet and let dry. The berries are single flat paper pieces with blank backs; do not stuff or thicken them.
  10. Finish gently. Check every seam and both strawberry feet. Add a short piece of clear tape to any lifting outer seam. Let all glue dry. Gently press the cake body, keeping the flat berries clear. Finished body: 100/100/80 mm triangular edges, 45 mm high. Do not squeeze the decorations.
