Large 24 cm butter paper squishy with changeable wrappers

Assembly overview

1. Choose five sheets. Choose one paper size and one color or coloring set. Print A, B, C/D and one W1/W2 pair at 100%. Check the 50 mm line before cutting. Color the blank version first.
2. Cut and pre-fold. Cut A, B, C and D on solid outlines. Keep all tabs. Fold A and B at 70 and 115 mm to make two L-shaped shells with 10 mm joining tabs. Fold the four tabs on each end cap.
3. Join A and B. Glue A’s J1 tab under the un-tabbed long edge of B. Close the rectangular tube by gluing B’s J2 tab under A’s un-tabbed edge. Support each seam from inside with a ruler while pressing. Remove the ruler before closing the ends. Tape the long seams outside; keep both ends open.
4. Attach end C. Place C against one 70 × 45 mm tube end, yellow face outward. Fold its four tabs around the OUTSIDE of the tube and glue them down. Add short tape strips over the end seam. Leave the other end open.
5. Fill lightly. Turn the block end for end (180°). Feed small loose pieces of soft tissue through the remaining open end. Spread them along the tube without packing tightly. Keep the faces flat enough for the wrapper and leave space at the end for D.
6. Close with D. Fit D to the open end, yellow face outward. Fold all four tabs onto the tube’s OUTSIDE, glue, then tape the seams. Let dry. The inner block is 240 × 70 × 45 mm; it stays sealed when changing wrappers.
7. Join the wrapper halves. Choose W1 and W2 of the same design. Glue the 10 mm J3 strip of W1 under W2’s straight left edge. Align the top and bottom edges and all dashed lines. Press flat; J3 is a JOIN, not a fold.
8. Place the inner block. Pre-fold only the dashed lines. Open the wrapper with the printed side DOWN. Center the sealed block on the 72 mm middle band, between the two end-fold lines. Leave 35 mm of wrapper beyond each end.
9. Wrap the long sides. Fold the shorter long side up and over the block, then the other long side over it. The final edge overlaps by 14 mm along the underside of the finished package. Keep this overlap free: no glue or permanent tape.
10. Push in the narrow sides. At one end, gently push the two narrow side folds inward against the end of the block. This makes an upper and lower flap. Crease the diagonals by hand; do not cut extra slits or glue the folds shut.
11. Fold the ends closed. Fold the upper wide flap down, then the lower wide flap up, keeping the folded edges tucked flat. Their planned overlap is 23 mm. Repeat at the other end. Turn the package so BUTTER faces up; leave it reopenable.
12. Unwrap and change. Open the end folds and long overlap, remove the sealed block, and use another assembled wrapper. Do not tear the inner seams. Press gently; if tight, loosen the folds. Check paper wear and reinforce only the sealed inner block.
