Assembly overview

  1. Prepare six parts. Use 180–220 gsm card, scissors, glue and clear tape. Print both color OR coloring sheets at 100%; check 50 mm. Cut S1, S2, H, B, V and R. Trace R onto thin cereal-box card for heel reinforcement.
  2. Fold the sole and band. Pre-fold S1 and S2 at the two dashed cross-lines. The front remains flat; the middle rises toward the back platform. Fold V into an arch: 44 mm wide and 24 mm high. Its two 7 mm end tabs turn INWARD underneath the sole.
  3. Attach the toe band. Place V on the flat front of S1, 18–40 mm from the toe. Wrap its tabs under S1 and glue them underneath. Keep the arch open. The white stripe is printed decoration in the color version; color the coloring version as you like.
  4. Laminate the sole. Glue S2 under S1 with its printed or colored side facing OUT, and its blank back against S1. Trap the V tabs between the soles. Align edges and folds. Keep the rear platform 38 mm high while drying; do not flatten the slope.
  5. Close the heel walls. Fold H into a 28 × 26 × 38 mm tube. Apply glue to the printed side of the 6 mm side tab; the opposite edge covers it exactly to the dashed root. Press from an open end. Leave both ends open at this stage.
  6. Close and reinforce the heel base. Fold the four B-end tabs inward. Glue B onto their outer faces to close the bottom. Insert the card traced from R through the still-open top and glue it onto the INSIDE of B. The top stays open.
  7. Mount the heel. Fold the four top tabs inward and glue their upper faces. Set them against the UNDERSIDE of the rear platform, 2 mm forward of its rear edge and centred across it. Place toe and heel base on the same table and press gently while drying.
  8. Finish the paper sandal. The shoe is 120 mm long and 44 mm wide, with the rear platform 38 mm above the table. Check that the under-arch gap and toe-band opening remain open. This is a display papercraft, not a wearable or load-bearing shoe; do not stuff it.
