Assembly overview

1. Print the two faces. Choose color or coloring: 2 pages, one F and one B, in one paper size. Print at 100% and check the 50 mm bar. Use 80–100 g/m² paper, clear tape, scissors, ruler, soft filling and a blunt tool. Color before taping.
2. Protect and cut. Cover each printed face with clear tape, smoothing bubbles. Cut only the solid outer contour, including the short antennae. Flowers, clouds and the bow are printed decorations; do not cut them out. Mark F and B on the blank backs. Keep the two O marks visible.
3. Match the blank backs. Place F and B with blank sides together and printed sides outward. Keep heads and four wing lobes aligned. Turn B over rather than placing both print sides upward. The mirrored O marks must meet on the same lower wing edge.
4. Tape around the edge. Use short clear tape pieces about 10 mm wide. Lay half on F, wrap around the edge and press the other half onto B. Keep the edges aligned. Seal the contour except the marked 25 mm O opening; there is no side strip.
5. Work into the notches. Use smaller tape pieces between the wings and around the antennae. Cut only loose tape if needed, never the paper. Wrap each curve separately; do not bridge across a notch. Leave the antennae flat and unfilled.
6. Fill the four wings. Add tiny tufts through O. Use a blunt tool to move filling into each of the four wing lobes, then remove it. Support the narrow centre and antennae. Stop early: only a light puff is needed, with no hard bulges.
7. Spread the filling. Gently distribute filling between all four wings and the central body. Keep the taped edge thin and O clear. Do not add a wall strip, fold the wings or try to make moving hinges. Thickness depends on the amount of filling.
8. Close O. Align F and B along the full 25 mm opening. Wrap short tape pieces from the printed F face over the edge onto printed B, overlapping tape ends slightly. Keep filling inside and press down every loose tape edge.
9. Check the butterfly. Check all four wing lobes, both antennae, every notch and closed O. The flat cut pattern is 140 × 110 mm; light filling slightly gathers the outline. This is one closed butterfly squishy with printed wing patterns, not separate moving wings.
